Margaret Thomas

Margaret Thomas is currently an Associate Professor at Earlham College, a small liberal arts school in Richmond, Indiana. At Earlham, she teaches a variety of classes for students in all stages of the psychology major. In her first year of full time teaching, she was awarded an Excellence in Teaching Award at Alfred University, where she was a Visiting Assistant Professor.

Margaret Thomas' research centers around issues of stereotypes. Specifically, she does research investigating how we perceive those who deviate from what is stereotypical for their group, how individuals perceive and perform gender, how those who are members of intersectional social groups are perceived, and how humans view non-human animals. A paper she coauthored on intersectionality won the Distinguished Publication Award for 2008 from the Association for Women in Psychology.
